What we have here is an alternative to the bright colors of dA that consists of a Journal CSS, Gallery CSS, custom Gallery Icons, and a couple goodies for your enjoyment.
Each version is split into respective packages containing all necessary content and instructions. For the journal and gallery CSS, you will need to host the provided images on your own image hosting site (Photobucket, ImageShack, etc.). To use the Gallery CSS, go to a Folder in your gallery and click on Edit > Options > Style. Opt in to use CSS (if you haven't already) and paste the CSS into the box. Thanks go to =Grayda and his awesome new Favebox. To use the Favebox, you must first register your account. For instructions, read this: [link] Thanks to =alder-sketch and his original myspace/facebook/twitter icons. Thanks also go to ˘mindfuckx for the original 'Gruze' design that inspired this way back last year and for his encouragement. Daily DeviationGiven 2009-03-07Dark dA V2 + V3 by `nokari An awesome design. On top of that it's a set of Journal and gallery CSS with matching gallery icons in 2 different, neat color schemes. Just simple, sleek and stylish. I love it. - An anonymous Suggester says "The formatting is very well done, and the extras really catch my eyes. The CSS is overall very, very well coded." - This also had another anonymous Suggester, but I wanted to mention it anyway. (Suggested by `DeMaulwurfn and Featured by `2dazed) Comments
Lol Latin.
I'll give it a shot sometime soon -- 98% of deviantART posters use a quote like this. If you're one of the 2% that doesn't, copy and paste this into your signature. Go visit *vanlubeck and say, "Hi!" some awesome designs

Still, there are areas where it becomes appropriate to make elements stand out, and one of those areas is the journal. Ideally, a good journal is strong, vibrant, and makes a person enjoy reading what's in it. Granted, my current journal design is a bit harsh on the eyes, so I'll digress a little bit. Your journal design, here, fits in perfectly with the UI of the site, but in my opinion that's actually a negative. While you've done a ton of work to provide people with elements to enhance their journal designs, I think this one in particular is a bit too "blah." You've also made the words per line (the quantity of words in a given line of text) really quite long. The ideal wpl number is 7-12. This is strictly from a legibility standpoint. I suggest adding in some max-widths to keep the copy blocks from getting too large.
I do like the edit button, but.. since it doesn't work in IE its a useless feature for anyone that doesn't use Firefox. IE and Firefox are the most common browsers and having an application that cross-browse' is an important feature.
Great technique. Which has always been Nokari's strong point. I hope that he utilizes this technique and creates a more impact-worthy CSS in the future.
